Faculty Group Invests in Legend of Arcadia
We are pleased to announce our investment in Legend of Arcadia (LOA), a multi-chain casual RPG card game that is built on a vast story universe inspired by Kingdom Hearts. LOA is built with the latest technology for the modern gamer, powered by blockchain. Players can enjoy the game for free, on-the-go on a mobile device, and socialize in real time with gamers from across the globe through immersive PVP game modes and trading highly composable NFTs.
With a total of 8 classes of NFT Toy Heroes, 6 different factions, and more than 200 different skills, the game mechanics provide countless tactical combinations for endless airtime. Their highly composable Dynamic NFT merging system creates millions of unique hero combinations from basic attributes, skills and characters which can be minted and are tradeable in-game.
LOA also features two types of gameplay:
- PvE (Player vs. Environment) Adventures for casual players and
- PvP (Player vs. Player) Tournaments for hardcore players.
LOA ties its gameplay immersively with $ARCA. Immersion in both modes allows players to obtain White Ore and Obsidian, which can be forged together to mint $ARCA tokens. This unique in-game economy allows players to play-and-earn while also introducing a prediction protocol, with its ground breaking GameFi betting mode adding another level of engagement for players with tracks.
Why Legend of Arcadia?
As part of our investment thesis, we think GameFi has huge potential for growth in this cycle. Having seen mainstream gaming studios entering Web3 over the last two bull runs, we believe that GameFi 2.0 will be a key application in this bull run, driving mass adoption through amazing in-game experiences like LOA that puts the game itself at the centre of their ecosystem.
The future of web3 gaming lies in building games that focus on play and earn, allowing players to use web3 tools without even realising it. Incubated by our friends at Everest Ventures Group and having a strong team with extensive web3 experience, we are very bullish about LOA and their ability to deliver a great gaming experience and a superior product.
James Childs, CEO at Faculty Group, sums up the investment committee’s decision, saying:
“ We have a high degree of confidence in GameFi and its ability to deliver in-game experiences that keep players engaged regardless of web3 in the background. This is the true test of any gaming ecosystem - the commitment to play - and we believe LOA are uniquely positioned to create traction and community engagement around their game.”
Our investment in Legend of Arcadia reflects our commitment to supporting best-in-class projects and founders irrespective of chain or layer. At Faculty Group, we continuously explore new narratives and investment opportunities in our search for the best projects that align with our vision for 2024 and beyond.
