Faculty Roundup: Proof of Pitch Competition 2024

The Proof of Talk conference was held in The Louvre Palace in Paris last week, hosted by XVentures.  This two-day conference was attended by our very own Head of Investment, Sebastian Cheek.

Sebastian was asked to represent Kasu Finance, one of our portfolio companies who were selected as a finalist for the Proof of Pitch competition but were unable to attend in person from Australia. Here is his roundup of the event:

I'd like to say a big thank you to Luke Lombe, Leon Ploubidis and the whole Kasu team for putting their trust in me and to X Ventures for hosting such a fantastic event. I was honoured to be asked to represent Kasu Finance and pitch on their behalf.

I would also like to thank William Raulin for hosting me.

As part of the Proof of Pitch competition, over 300 Web3 projects applied to this pitching competition and 13 were announced as finalists, including our very own Kasu Finance. In a revolutionary departure from traditional pitch competitions, Proof of Pitch combined cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence insights with the world’s leading Web3 VCs to find the best Start-ups in Web3 regardless of funding stage.

The jury panel was filled with leading Tier 1 Web3 investors including our host, XVentures, Animoca Brands, Binance Labs, Nexera, Spartan, Arrington Capital, Pantera, Borderless and many more.

Their feedback was incredibly helpful as well as insightful for all the finalists. The winner of the Proof of Pitch, Soul Labs (below), received a $30k CoinTelegraph accelerator grant and prizes valued at over €1M Euros in total.

Overall the conference was full of interesting speaker and panel discussions, the agenda covered a wide range of topics and narratives including DeFi, TradFi, RWA, Infrastructure Innovations, Interoperability, AI - Blockchain Integration and the future of Bitcoin.

Unlike other events, Proof of Talk prioritised genuine engagement over passive participation, offering legendary networking opportunities for those in attendance and for the Proof of Pitch finalists.  It will definitely be one on my list of must-attend events for next year.
